The Limelight Foundation is administered by Arts Initiative Australia and supports various projects that build the capacity of the arts, including arts journalism.
Although finance is an important factor of every project, many projects require far more than a one-off grant. With a mission to make the arts sustainable, the Limelight Foundation also provides assistance and advice in establishing business structures, marketing, legalities, mentoring programs, administration of artistic initiatives, fostering partnerships.
For Perth-based tenor Louis Hurley, a recent gruate of the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, the Foundation is helping Louis raise funds so he can pursue his studies and take advantage of a scholarship to the Guilhall School of Music and Drama.
Also based in Perth, Louise McKay is founding a digital platform – Ensembly – which will connect Artists, Hosts and Audiences; allowing for professional artistic performances in the intimate spaces of private homes. The Foundation is helping with the development of this platform through mentoring, network and some finance.
Sydney's Dan Graham, a theatre director living with mild disability (hidden) is creating a team that will better-enable his artistic output. The Foundation is working with Dan to create a sustainable model to resource Dan's team, as well as raising funds towards the development of a new work.
