It was back in 2007 that Sony released a two CD set in the first of a project series devoted to the 140 odd songs of Roger Quilter with baritone Mark Stone and pianist Stephen Barlow. However, a follow-up 2CD set never appeared. Thankfully Stone Records have taken up the task, thus far releasing two well received discs – the first devoted to Shakespearean settings, the second to other poets including Tennyson.

This new third disc is given over to Quilter’s arrangements of traditional songs of the British Isles as well as a few foreign language settings. It is interesting to note that some of these very fine recordings were recorded in 2007 leaving one to assume that they were intended to be part of the Sony set.
