One of the best examples of a long-term commitment to contemporary music is that of American label Bridge Records’ ongoing series showcasing the music of Poul Ruders. Now 70, Ruders is Denmark’s senior composer, an artist of wide-ranging interests, whose considerable musical imagination is wedded to a cast-iron technique. This latest release counts as volume 15 and possesses all the virtues of its predecessors, i.e. intelligent programming, fine performances and first-class sonic engineering.
