Having formed only in 2017, Genesis Baroque are a relatively new Melbourne-based ensemble, and this double-disc collection of Corelli’s Op. 6 Concerti Grossi is their debut release.

Corelli’s Op. 6 is one of his most famous works, and one that’s certainly had no shortage of recordings. Genesis Baroque don’t stray far from the beaten track in their approach here but do offer a warm take on these favourites.

Other than his compositions, one of Corelli’s major innovations was in insisting on various methods of uniformity of performance – bowings to be the same, no extraneous ornamentation from a back-desk violinist, and so on.
