Season Preview: Your guide to the arts in 2021

In a sign of ongoing caution when it comes to long-term plans, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2021 Summer Season as part of a plan to release details on a quarterly basis this year. However, the orchestra’s commitment to streaming all Federation Concert Hall programs is impressively forward-looking and one of the better things to have come out of the disruption caused by the pandemic. These concerts will be performed twice each on the same day with the second performance livestreamed.

“We have the whole year mapped out, but are providing details about composers, works, conductors and soloists in three-month blocks,” said TSO Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Eivind Aadland, who is noticeably absent from the current program, presumably for travel reasons. “This allows us to be nimble and adapt our programming to meet the latest health guidelines.”
