Create NSW has announced a new orchestral conducting fellowship, which will be delivered in partnership with Sydney Youth Orchestras. The Conductor: Orchestral Conducting Fellowship is designed to support the emerging and early career professional practice of an orchestral conductor through $20,000 of funding and $10,000 of in-kind support, including mentorships.

The fellowship was announced as part of a handful of new programs to support the arts and cultural sector in NSW. Five recipients will benefit from the four new Fellowship programs, which represent a total investment of $150,000 by the NSW Government. The fellowships include a Conductor: Orchestral Conducting Fellowship with Sydney Youth Orchestras, two Aboriginal Curator Placement (Emerging) fellowships in partnership with Art Gallery of New South Wales, a NSW Aboriginal Creative Fellowship with the State Library Of New South Wales, and a NSW Musical Theatre Fellowship with Hayes Theatre Co.
