Producers John Frost and Suzanne Jones have announced that they “have magic to do” this November when they present the musical Pippin at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre.

Produced with Foundation Theatres and The Star, the Tony Award-winning circus-themed Broadway production will reopen the Lyric Theatre for an exclusive Sydney season from November 24, 2020. It will be the first large-scale musical to return to the Australian stage since theatres were shuttered in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We must keep planning to reopen theatres and present shows like Pippin, even in the face of crippling uncertainty,” said Graeme Kearns, Chief Executive Officer of Foundation Theatres.

“We’re confident that if conditions permit, theatre-goers will return and demand for terrific musical theatre will be strong. It is critical that productions like Pippin pave the way, providing jobs for our talented theatre-makers who have been out of work since March.
