British newspaper The Times has reported that the Royal Ballet has suspended one of its star choreographers, Liam Scarlett, amid claims of sexual misconduct with students.
Scarlett, 33, is Artist in Residence at the Royal Ballet. He has fast become one of Britain’s most admired young choreographers since retiring from his career as a dancer in 2012. This March, the Royal Ballet is presenting his acclaimed 2018 production of Swan Lake.

In 2017, Scarlett took up the position of Artistic Associate at Queensland Ballet, for whom he has created a co-production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a production of Dangerous Liaisons . A spokesperson for QB said in a statement released this afternoon that the company has suspended all future engagements with Scarlett, pending the results of the investigation currently underway in the UK as a result of allegations made to Royal Opera House, reported in The Timestoday . This includes the QB’s 2020 tour of Dangerous Liaisonsto Melbourne.
