The classical-crossover artist Katherine Jenkins has today announced that she is to tour Australia in November. The Welsh mezzo-soprano, who shot to fame when she sang at Westminster Abbey in 2003 to honour Pope John Paul II’s silver jubilee, last performed in Australia in 2011 when she accompanied Plácido Domingo on his arena tour.

“I’m extremely excited that I’m finally returning to Australia and that I’ll get to see more of your beautiful country,” said Jenkins. “My father was stationed in Australia when he was in the Navy so visiting the country has always held special memories for me.”

On her forthcoming tour Australian audiences will have the chance to see the mezzo perform some of her hit songs, including Time to Say Goodbye, Jealous of The Angels and Blinded by Your Grace, accompanied by piano and string quartet.

Jenkins, who is famous for singing a variety of opera arias, popular songs, music theatre numbers and hymns, is Britain’s best-selling classical artist of the past 25 years.
