Artist and designer Jacob Nash, whose work is well known to Sydney Festival and Bangarra Dance Theatre audiences, has been appointed as Sydney Festival’s inaugural Creative Artist in Residence. Having begun his residency on 7 April, he will be charged with creatively, artistically and culturally envisaging and overseeing major projects within the 2022 program, working closely with Festival Director Olivia Ansell.

“I am really excited to be joining the Sydney Festival to work alongside the brilliant Olivia Ansell,” said Nash. “I look forward to sharing my diverse career experiences and cultural knowledge with her and the festival team, to help shape and define her vision for our city in summer.”

Nash’s work for Sydney Festival includes creative direction for Proclamation in 2020 as well as production design for ALWAYS in 2019, BLACK TIES in 2020 and To cook or not to Cook in 2021.
