The award-winning film composer will be performing concerts in Australia and New Zealand in 2017.

Award-winning film composer Hans Zimmer will be heading down under in 2017 for a series of arena shows titled “Hans Zimmer Revealed”. Zimmer will perform five shows in May, including performances at Auckland’s Vector Arena, Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Perth Arena.

The concert will be in two parts, the first featuring a selection of Zimmer’s classic film scores, including Gladiator, The Lion King and Pirates of the Caribbean. The second part will feature re-imagined versions of scores such as that of The Dark Knight trilogy and Inception, featuring special guests from the rock and pop world.

This news comes on the heels of Zimmer’s recently announced European tour. “Performing a concert series like this is something that I have always wanted to do,” he said, “and I am thrilled to visit Australia and New Zealand and return to Europe where we had so much fun playing in the summer.”

Zimmer’s has scored more than 120 films across his career, including Driving Miss Daisy in the late 1980s to the more recent Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, the soundtrack for which topped the Limelight Chart in June this year.

While the special guests for the Australian tour haven’t been announced, Johnny Marr from The Smiths – who has worked with Zimmer on scores such as Inception and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – joined him for a number of shows on his last European tour. He has also recently collaborated with Pharrell Williams on the upcoming film Hidden Figures.

“I am very excited to get some of my very talented friends together,” said Zimmer, “and give our audiences an experience unlike any concert they have ever been to before.”
