Australian National Theatre Live returns this season with three audience favourites to be broadcast around the country. Now partnered with Independent Cinemas Australia and able to reach greater audiences, ANTLive was introduced in 2016 and mirrors similar theatre broadcast offerings from the UK and Europe.

“At ANT Live we are passionate about creating more places for theatre – overcoming the barriers of location, affordability and accessibility so that anyone can enjoy this modern yet ancient art form,” said creative director Grant Dodwell. “We thank ICA and their My Cinema platform for this opportunity.”

The season will begin in November with The Dapto Chaser, captured at Sydney’s Griffin Theatre. From playwright Mary Rachel Brown and directed by Glynn Nicholas, it’s a comedy about the cut-throat world of greyhound racing.

The Dapto Chaser is followed by Sydney Theatre Company’s Wharf Revue, which sees Australia’s politicians and prominent figures skewered with good fun and music.

The year is rounded out with Sydney Theatre Company and Malthouse’s Away, Michael Gow’s touchstone play about three Australian families in the 1960s.
