Australian pianist Jeremy Chan has been shortlisted for this year’s Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera International Song Competition, where he will be partnering the American tenor Michael St Peter. Established in 1997, the prestigious Competition recognises young talent in the art of song recital and lieder, open to singer and pianist duos aged 33 and under from around the world. Chan will be eligible for the Pianist’s Prize, worth £5,000 (approximately $9,305 AUD), as well as the Jean Meikle Prize Duo Prize, also worth £5,000. For singers, the top prize sees them win £10,000 (approximately $18,606 AUD).
