Fresh from the Royal Opera’s Jette Parker Programme, the young director will assist Neil Armfield on 2016’s Ring revival.

Young Australian-born, London-based director Greg Eldridge has been announced as the assistant director of Opera Australia’s highly anticipated 2016 revival of 2013’s Melbourne Ring Cycle. Eldridge was the youngest ever director to be chosen for the esteemed Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House in London, a programme that is currently fostering the talents of several Australian artists, including Samuel Sakker, Emily Edmonds, Samuel Dale Johnson and Lauren Fagan.

Eldridge has gone from strength to strength, building an impressive list of directorial credits, including productions of Rossini’s La scala di seta and The Lighthouse, by the recently deceased British composer, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. The latter received a five-star review from The Telegraph, who lauded Eldridge’s staging as “pitch perfect”. He is currently the Jette Parker Associate Director and has worked in Australia for Victorian Opera, Melbourne Opera and Lyric Opera of Melbourne.
