Dancer and choreographer Angela Goh has been announced as the recipient of the inaugural Beyond The Studio Fellowship. Presented by Sydney Dance Company and Create NSW, the Fellowship sees a choreographer, dancer, producer, composer or designer receive $30,000 from Create NSW while they work closely with SDC’s artistic and administrative team over a 12-18-month period. The Fellowship is intended to help the recipient work towards a future leadership role in the arts industry through professional development.

Based in Sydney, Goh has produced dance for a range of different venues, and her work considers the body in relationship to commodity, materiality, technology, and feeling. She has been programmed in Australia as well as the USA, the UK, France, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Taiwan, Germany, Norway, Estonia, Denmark and the Netherlands. She received the danceWEB Europe scholarship, the Create NSW Emerging Artist Fellowship and was named Best Artist in the 2017 FBi Sydney Music Arts and Culture awards. Goh received Australia’s most prestigious prize for choreography, the $50,000 Keir Choreographic Award, in March.
Goh will begin working with SDC’s Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela and Executive Director Anne Dunn and their teams in July, where she will develop her leadership skills. She will also work on both virtual and physical creative development and learning sessions and lead projects with SDC’s Pre-Professional Year program students.
