Violinist Daniel Hope and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra have cancelled their performance scheduled for this Sunday, the Sydney Opera House has announced. The early arrival of Hope’s new son has meant the violinist has had to pull out of what was to be the orchestra’s only Australian performance.

“Our baby son has just arrived, over three weeks earlier than anticipated,” the violinist said in a statement. “To take care of my family, this means that with great sadness I must withdraw from my only Australian appearance with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.”

Refunds are currently being processed for ticket holders, and patrons with concerns have been asked to contact the Sydney Opera House Box Office on 9250 7777.

“I am extremely sorry to let you, the Sydney Opera House audience, down and I thank you for your understanding,” Hope said. “I look forward to returning to Australia at the next possible opportunity.”
