Vote for your favourite classical performances and you could win a digital radio!
I always recoil when a fellow music journo tells me he or she has become “jaded” after enduring an interminable parade of gigs for years on end. They’re usually rock journalists. Happily, “jaded” just isn’t a possibility in Australia’s classical music scene, and especially not in the Limelight office, where we have the great privilege and pleasure of filling our days with the best recitals, concerts, operas, ballets and festivals on offer. If I’m starting to feel like I live at the Opera House – well, there are worse places to live.
But between just two editors here, we certainly can’t see everything. We want to know what our readers enjoyed over the past year. And so we’re proud to present the 2012 Limelight Awards, giving Australian concert-goers and classical music lovers the chance to celebrate the performances, recordings and music personalities that made you all sit bolt upright and take notice this year. What moments musicaux inspired you? Limelight contributors and ABC Classic FM presenters have put their heads together to choose five nominees for each of the 10 categories.
Public voting for the 2012 Limelight Awards is now open, so be sure to let us know who you think deserves to take home the gong in each section.
View the nominees and vote online here, or return the printed form enclosed in the November issue of Limelight to go into the draw to win a Vita Audio digital radio valued at $399. Voting closes Friday, November 23.
To all our nominees: congratulations, good luck, and keep doing what you’re doing!
