When Steven Oliver presents his cabaret show Bigger & Blacker at the Sydney Opera House Studio this month, it will be the fifth time he has performed at the landmark venue – which got him thinking about the tin shed in which his grandparents raised their family.

“It’s such a great opportunity,” he says of the invitation to perform as part of the Sydney Opera House’s latest UnWrapped program.

“My grandfather built a tin humpy for my grandmother and their children – my mother and aunties and uncle, and I was kind of looking at this little tin thing that is literally nailed together in the bush and I was wishing my grandparents were alive today so they could see I got from that to performing at the Sydney Opera House.”
