New Melbourne trio to explore the hidden impulses of Russian classics in debut concert.

There’s a new piano trio on the starting blocks in Melbourne and their first concert has its eyes set firmly on musical matters Russian.

Trio Bresciani is made up of Hoang Pham (piano), Ji Won (violin), and Michael Dahlenburg (cello). The trio will make their debut on April 6 at Melba Hall, University of Melbourne with a program consisting of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Solovoyov-Sedoi, and Shostakovich, entitled Moscow Nights.

Whilst the repertoire may be demanding, Trio Bresciani’s intentions are comparatively straightforward. “The inspiration behind forming Trio Bresciani was first and foremost, the desire to perform piano trios with two musicians who I greatly admire – violinist Ji Won Kim and cellist Michael Dahlenburg,” explains Hoang Pham. “The vision for Trio Bresciani is simply to give spectacular performances in front of a loving audience that appreciates the music and its performers.”

The desire to purely entertain defines the trio, and has helped them to build a broad but closely-knit support base in their hometown of Melbourne.
