As her semi-autobiographical play Stop Girl opens at Belvoir, ABC journalist Sally Sara tells Jane Albert that working in the theatre has been “a real lifeline” and reveals that her dream of becoming a playwright pre-dates her renowned career as a foreign correspondent.

It is week two of rehearsals for ABC journalist Sally Sara’s semi-autobiographical play Stop Girl. The scene playing out in Belvoir’s Surry Hills studio is set in the chic inner-city Sydney suburb of Potts Point. Lead character, foreign correspondent Suzie (Sheridan Harbridge) is desperate to return to Kabul to continue her exposure of the ongoing atrocities being committed there.
