Musica Viva Australia move with the times by launching Tweet Seat initiative.

Musica Viva Australia has joined the growing number of theatres and companies around the world who are offering discounted seats specifically to their twitter followers. Tweet seats were made available today as the initiative went online for the first time.

Holders of Tweet Seat tickets will be grouped together in a separate section of the audience and given the opportunity to tweet during certain performances. Providing a live commentary on each event, they will direct questions around the twittersphere to other classical music fans using the hashtag #musicaviva2014. Questions directed to the performers will be answered after the concert via the @MusicaVivaAu account.

Responding to the initial take up the company were buoyant. “We’ve had a high level of engagement online and we’re really happy with the sales to date,” said Director of Sales and Marketing, Rebecca MacFarling. “Tweet Seats is an interesting experiment for us and we look forward to seeing how it goes on concert night.”

Tweet Seat tickets are currently available for the Kelemen Quartet in Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney. Full details are available from the Musica Viva Australia blog.
