Best known to opera audiences, Cherie Boogaart takes to the cabaret stage in her new show Tentación.

Confessional meets cabaret this week, as Cherie Boogaart brings her new show to The Butterfly Club stage. Tentación tells the personal story of the singer’s straight-laced Christian upbringing and her struggle to resist the lure of life’s forbidden fruit.

While they might not have the urge to sing and dance, this wild and heady coming-of-age story is sure to strike a chord with most audiences. Boogaart’s story of self-discovery and breaking free of a narrow-minded, insular environment uses Spanish and Latin works by composers De Falla, Rodrigo and Piazzolla to help tell the tale.

“I have a real passion for Spanish song and singing in Spanish – this show gives me the opportunity to sing some glorious music in a very intimate way,” said Boogaart. “It’s quite liberating actually, getting it all out there – a form of therapy if you like. And I love the opportunity to share some parts of myself that someone I may nevr have met might relate to, especially when I get to do it and sing such fantastic repertoire.”
