Nominations for the 2014 Art Music Awards are now open.

Each year, the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) and the Australian Music Centre (AMC) join to present the Art Music Awards. The awards recognise excellence in the Australian music industry, with 11 national awards and a handful of state awards.

Nominations for the 2014 Art Music Awards are now open, with the presentation ceremony to be held in Melbourne on Tuesday August 26. The awards highlight the contribution made by individuals and organisations in categories such as composition, performance, education and presentation. Musical works and activities that occurred during the 2013 calendar year are eligible for this year’s awards.

Brett Dean (Orchestral Work of the Year: Fire Music), The Australian Art Orchestra (Performance of the Year: Meetings at the Table of Time) and Soundstream: Adelaide New Music Festival (Sustained Promotion of New Music), were amongst last year’s winners.

While the adjudication panel is yet to be announced, it will apparently consist of esteemed industry professionals as selected by the Board of the Australian Music Centre. To ensure equality, this year’s online entry forms and conditions have been given a complete overhaul.

Nominations are now being accepted by APRA and AMC members, with entries closing at 5pm on Monday May 12.
