My life changed one suburban Melbourne night when Mum popped on a rented VHS tape. A heavy minor chord rang out over a snowy lane, punctuated by a cry. “Mozart! Mozart! Forgive your assassin.” My 12-year-old ears opened wide. I had discovered my new city – Vienna. Never mind that Amadeus was filmed in Prague and its protagonists inexplicably spoke American.
