Lyndon Terracini has had his contract as OA Artistic Director extended until 2021.

In breaking news, the Board of Opera Australia has extended Lyndon Terracini’s contract as Artistic Director of Opera Australia until 2021.

The former baritone has led the Company since 2011. Employed initially for three years, the Board renewed his contract in January 2013 for a further five years on the back of robust ticket sales. Now his contract has been extended for a further three years.

“I’m really pleased and delighted that the Board have made this decision,” Terracini told Limelight, “because there are some really exciting developments I’d like to see through. We’re just starting to see the effects of all the hard work of the last three years. You know, an opera company is like the Queen Mary – it takes a long time to change direction!”

During his time at OA, Terracini has introduced a number of initiatives designed to attract new audiences to opera including Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour, Opera on the Beach presented on the Gold Coast, a series of musicals including My Fair Lady, South Pacific,...
