Are two heads better than one? The prolifically fruitful creative partnership between choreographers Sol León and Paul Lightfoot suggests yes, quite possibly. The pair have created almost 60 works for the Nederlands Dans Theater over the past 29 years, and the level of dense, intricate complexity in their work is undoubtedly a reflection of the effortlessly fluent exchange of ideas between these two dance makers. The longevity of their collaboration also offers another advantage. The pair both joined the company in the mid-80s, both barely out of their teens. Three decades later Lightfoot is now the Artistic Director of NDT, and León is Resident Choreographer. A lifetime working with this extraordinary company, understanding first hand and in close quarters the physical capabilities of this ensemble of dancers, has allowed them to hone a choreographic language that’s microscopically detailed.

That’s in no small part down to the technically flawless performers NDT boasts; sleek, wiry, limitlessly supple bodies with the nimble agility to execute just about any gesture you can imagine.
