Greg Poppleton, Australia's Only Million YouTube 1920s Singer, swings at the Speakeasy, in a return engagement at Palmer & Co.
Greg Poppleton is Australia's only authentic 1920s singer. The real deal. Swinging, rollicking and high energy. Totally uninfluenced by contemporary music, his passion for classic jazz goes back to age three when he saw Louis Armstrong on TV.
Greg has thrilled audiences at the Gin Mill Social, Rocks Village Bizarre, Sydney Festival, Waiheke International Jazz Festival, Thredbo Jazz, Illawarra Jazz Fest, Glen Street Theatre Jazz Festival, Canberra Centenary, Sydney Jazz Club, Foundry 616, Vanguard, Blue Beat and many more venues.
Greg plays with only the best world-touring classic jazz musicians. At Palmer & Co, Wednesday 26 April, he will be backed by:
Paul Furniss (alto sax)
Greg Chilcott (sousaphone doubling trombone)
Paul Baker (banjo).
An award-winning swing and jazz broadcaster on 107.3 2SER and 22 radio stations Australia-wide, Greg has played opposite some of Hollywood’s Academy Award and Golden Globe winners in motion pictures including Adrien Brody, John Goodman and Nicole Kidman.
He was called back for the band leader role in Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby and is currently on TV in a popular commercial.
‘They Didn’t Believe Me’ from Greg’s new album ‘Back In Your Own Backyard’ was picked for the soundtrack of a new German-Israeli movie co-production, The Cake Maker.
Greg Poppleton has released four albums. His second and fourth albums, 'Doin' The Charleston' and 'Back In Your Own Backyard' received the rare distinction for an independent jazz album - it was played on Sydney commercial radio.
Swinging, authentic and great to dance, Greg Poppleton's return to Palmer & Co is a not-to-be-missed special event.
