Fauré's gentle, consoling Requiem captured the public's imagination from its first performance in 1888.
Of the work, Fauré wrote “Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my Requiem, which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.”
Fauré's Requiem touches the heart with its melodic beauty and mellow, autumnal orcheatration. It also contains one of the most celebrated solos ever written for the soprano voice - the Pie Jesu.
This all-French programme will also feature Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine, Francis Poulenc’s sparkling Mass in G and a rare performance of Daniel-Lesur’s Le Cantique des Cantiques.
We are delighted to present this work with soloists bass-baritone Nicholas Dinopoulos and soprano Erika Tandiono.
Don’t miss the chance to hear these treasures of the French choral repertoire.
