Don the QuietComfort 15s and the outside world just melts away. These Award winners are circumaural, completely enclosing your ears, but they’re also light and don’t make your lugs too hot after an extended listen. Clarity and transparency are remarkable, even with lower-bitrate files, and there’s ample detail, dynamics and punch. They also do a great job of muting the world without any music playing. The QuietComfort 15s are still the ones to beat.

The QC15s don’t work in passive mode – they have to be switched on to play music. So if the battery goes, that’s your lot.

VERDICT: The best noise-cancelling headphones we’ve heard yet.
