An SSO quintet recently joined luxury Australian tour operator APT for a trip of a lifetime to perform in the wondrous Cathedral Gorge in the Kimberley's Bungle Bungle Range. Audiences ventured in to the heart of the Purnululu National Park to hear the musicians fill the natural red rock amphitheatre with the sounds of Beethoven, Ravel, Piazzolla and Ross Edwards. At an intimate gathering last Thursday, co-hosts Carla Zampatti and the Australian World Orchestra invited friends, music lovers and supporters to a celebration of the the electrifying energy the AWO has brought to the Australian music-making landscape over the last five years in the lead up to the AWO fifth anniversary performances at the Sydney Opera House on September 28 and 29.
