Margaret Olley - Art Exhibition
This exhibition is the first to focus on the artist’s home in Duxford Street, Paddington. Considering Margaret Olley’s paintings alongside photographs of the interior, objects from the house and reflections from her friends, the exhibition explores her home as inspiration.
To walk into Olley’s home was like walking into a painting. With its fresh paint, rich colours and warm sentiment, the house was a true commemoration of the still-life and interiors tradition in Australian art.
Painted between 1972 and 2011, the artworks in this exhibition reveal the house as a living work of art, while the photographs document the passing years and affirm the aura of the interior spaces.
