Songmakers Australia

Howard Penny - cello (guest artist)

"There's no need for music to make people think! ... It would be enough if music could make people listen." Debussy to Paul Dukas (1901).  One hundred and fifty years almost to the date, we celebrate Claude Debussy extraordinary musical creation with a selection of songs, the beautifully evocative Cello Sonata and L'isle Joyeuse, The Happy Island, composed whilst in Jersey and inspired by Watteau's painting L'embarquement pour Cythère.
