Sweet Stunning Soulful
Adelaide's acclaimed fresh young Singer/ Songwriter, Julia Henning is performing her new hauntingly beautiful music at The Studio Sydney Opera House on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 September back by her band and an additional string quartet.
Performances include evening concerts on Monday 10 & Tuesday 11 September at
8.15pm and an industry showcase at
2pm on Tuesday 11 September.
Hailing from the wine growing regions of South Australia, Julia Henning unearthed her love of music at the age of nine. She is a regular musical theatre performer in Adelaide and her show Henning with Hart was a sell-out at the 2006 Fringe Festival. In 2007, Julia worked with international cabaret artist, Karen Kohler, in New York which inspired her sold-out cabaret show 'New York, New York'. Her 2008 cabaret show Little Miss Me and 2009 Love and Alchemy a journey through the chemistry of love both received rave reviews.
“Since I wrote my first song at age 9, it's been my dream to be a successful original artist. Cabaret was a chance for me to develop as a performer and get my feet wet in the industry. Cabaret will always be a part of my performance style but my passion is to write and to have other people hear and relate to my music. I'm at a stage where I feel like the time is right to go forward with my originals and see where it all leads,” said Singer, Songwriter Julia Henning.
Julia’s original music has been described as mixture of Abby Dobson, Julia Stone and Lisa Mitchell. Her originals have received numerous awards and are a testament to this young woman’s talent. Her lyrics are a soul stirring tapestry of real life conflicts, reflections and moments captured in song. Beautifully cocooned by exquisite musical arrangements and melodies that linger after the music has ended.
“I want to make a big impact and really get started as an original artist. Sydney offers me an opportunity to launch nationally and internationally. When I decided to go full steam ahead with this launch we talked about a whole lot of venues that might be right for me. But when it comes down to it, the Sydney Opera House is the most iconic venue in Australia,” said Julia.
…soul stirring singing voice… one stellar young artiste
Henning uses only her glorious voice, sparkling personality and lovely looks to captivate her audience....She doesn’t just sing, she performs using every physical attribute given to her
