In this program, Christmas reflects all of those things. Here, the serenity and charm of music by Handel, Charpentier and other European masters rubs shoulders with the rhythmic verve of Baroque music from 17th and 18th century Latin America. Colonial composers in Mexico, Bolivia and Brazil – New World colonies of Spain and Portugal – combined the musical traditions of their European heritage with the textures and rhythms of their new home. Join us for this celebration of great music of invention and energy.
